Quarantine weight gain Not a Joke!
Webinar
Saturday, June 27th
7:00 pm KST (12:00 EST)
Life in lockdown has disrupted many lives and caused significant disruption on global scale. One of the important consequences of quarantine is a change in lifestyle: reduced physical activity and eating unhealthy diet. For obese patients who already struggled with their body, gaining extra pounds during the COVID pandemic add more risk to their lives.
“Quarantine 15” is the term given to the notion that during the pandemic and stay-at-home order, people are gaining weight because eating is one of the few activities they can enjoy indoors besides watching TV or playing video games. While calling it the “Quarantine 15” may sound cute, this phenomenon has significant consequence on public health. Obesity has been associated with impaired immune system and increasing the susceptibility for COVID-19.

Cross Your T's to Success: How to Deliver a Great Talk,
Get Your New Title and Seize Your Next Career Twist
A Virtual Event from WIE and AGA, sponsored by Abbvie
Tuesday, June 23, 2020
7:00pm Eastern Time, 4:00pm Pacific Time
While the global COVID-19 pandemic and the recent racial injustices within the US have caused tremendous pain and societal devastation, they have also shed light on the value of female and minorities leadership and the need to promote diversity and amplify the unheard voices of those who seek to create safe and just communities that promote personal and professional growth.
As we return to new norms within our professional community of gastroenterology and endoscopy, we need to maintain this momentum of promoting effective and diverse leadership within our field. Furthermore, we must champion the desire of women and under-represented minorities to seek positive opportunities and changes in their careers. Unfortunately, essential tools to reach these goals are not always formally taught, nor equally accessible through mentorship and experience.
To help arm the members of our community with skills for success, WIE and the AGA are extremely excited to host the webinar entitled “Cross Your T's to Success: How to Deliver a Great Talk, Get Your New Title and Seize Your Next Career Twist”.
Dr. Sharmila Anandasapathy (Professor of Medicine, Director of Baylor Global Initiatives and Global Innovation Center, Houston, Texas), Dr. Michelle Kim (Professor of Medicine, Mount Sinai NYC, Councilor in the AGA and Past President of NYSGE) and Nisha Burns (VP of US Gastroenterology Abbvie, Chicago) will share their professional journey and practical steps to successfully formulate and convince others of your vision, create your own opportunities, make bold career changes, turn responsibilities into groundbreaking roles and reach leadership positions.
WIE is a global organization that champions the advancement of women through education, professional growth and leadership development. WIE takes pride in partnering with other societies like the AGA that share this vision in order to be able to bring programming and educational opportunities to those who may benefit.
This program was made possible thanks to an educational grant from Abbvie.
